The Genocide of the Quechua in Peru between 1980 and 1992

Genocide is the systematic killing of an ethnic or racial group by members of another group or race. Between 1980 and 1993, indigenous people (particularly Quechua speakers) experienced genocide carried out by the terrorist group Sendero Luminoso and the Peruvian army with military support from the United States. The genocide was perpetrated against those who were marginalized from Peru's mestizo or white society and who did not speak Spanish or other Western languages. (Excerpt from introduction).
