Warnings That Shining Path Is Regrouping with Robberies in Bolivia

A Bolivian police chief warned today of a probable re-organization of the Peruvian terrorist group Sendero Luminoso, linked to recent robberies in Bolivia. "There are indications of the reorganization of this terrorist group (Sendero Luminoso) based on the military-style procedures used," said the director of the Special Force to Combat Crime in the city of El Alto, Colonel Ramiro Cossío. He explained that in recent robberies in El Alto, a neighboring city of La Paz, masked individuals made off with three million bolivianos (450,000 dollars) from beer sales at Carnival, and another 35,000 bolivianos (5,000 dollars) from a gasoline station.
