Mirror of Truth. Memory Not to Forget, Lessons for History
The book is composed of two parts. The first consists of three chapters. The first chapter briefly recounts the vicissitudes and the origin of the idea to write the book, including the process of collecting testimonies and its elaboration. The following two chapters were developed from testimonies gathered in late 2002 and early 2003, supplemented by others collected during the writing process. The second chapter addresses the presentation of the process of political violence from the concrete experiences of those affected and victimized, their perception of the factors that triggered it, and the aftermath it has left, while the third chapter delves into the trajectory of displacement as an unfinished process and the coping strategies implemented at various stages. The second part of the book addresses the organizational experience of displaced persons in Peru, developed from in-depth interviews with leaders of CONDECOREP and a review of original documents, assemblies, workshops, etc. This part contains the reconstruction of organizational memory. The fourth chapter explains the organizational process of CONDECOREP, its trajectory, contributions, limitations, and future challenges. The fifth addresses CONDECOREP's involvement as an organization during the work of the CVR and its long history of struggle to achieve the inclusion of displacement in the National Agenda.
