Basic Criteria for a Space of Commemoration of Violence in Peru. The Centrality of Victims' Rights
Within the framework of the Social Construction of Memory project sponsored by MISEREOR, this document offers a set of notions about what is expected of a national space dedicated to the memory of violence and what it should be in order to meet the expectations and rights of victims, and to respond justly to the duty of memory that Peruvian society and the State have. These notions come from dialogues with victims' organizations and affected populations held by the Instituto de Democracia y Derechos Humanos de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú. The aim is thus to contribute to the process of reflection on the violent past and recognition of victims' rights from a human rights perspective and one of democratic consolidation.
