The Novel and the Memory of the Armed Conflict of Shining Path in Peru
This thesis presents the history of the internal conflict in Peru and, through an analysis of three novels that reflect on the postwar period, evaluates the contribution of contemporary Peruvian narrative to the understanding of what occurred and to the debate on memory. It argues that novels such as Abril rojo (2006) by Santiago Roncagliolo, La hora azul (2005) by Alonso Cueto, and Un lugar llamado Oreja de Perro (2008) by Iván Thays explore the relevance of memory in relation to other key concepts such as truth, communication, and responsibility.
