MRTA TAKES JUANJUI
A column of seventy MRTA members of the Movimiento Revolucionario Túpac Amaru takes the town of Juanjui, in San Martín. During the assault, covered by the national press and television, the MRTA members paint slogans on walls, loot the police station, and subdue the security forces. On that occasion, Víctor Polay Campos, comrade "Rolando," leader of the MRTA's Nor Oriental Column, came into public view.
