Victims of a Shining Path ambush on a troop carrier transporting 22 police officers near the town of Gorgor, in Cajatambo, Lima, on January 4, 1991. Six police officers were killed. Over the 20 years of violence, 1,436 police casualties were recorded, including both deaths and injuries.
