Jorge Sedano, photojournalist for the newspaper La República, photographed days before his death in the Uchuraccay massacre that occurred on January 26, 1983, along with seven other journalists. The photograph was taken by one of his traveling companions. The press members had traveled to the highlands of Huanta from the city of Ayacucho to verify the execution of seven alleged Senderistas carried out by peasants from Huaychao and Macabamba. After being killed by the peasants, they were buried in four shallow graves located in the surroundings of the Ayacuchan community.
