Peasants in the highlands of Huanta. The photograph was taken by one of the eight journalists killed on January 26, 1983 in the locality of Uchuraccay, in Huanta, by peasants from that community. The eight press members had traveled to the highlands of Huanta from the city of Ayacucho to verify the execution of seven alleged Senderistas carried out by peasants from Huaychao and Macabamba. After being killed by the peasants of Uchuraccay, the journalists were buried in four shallow graves located in the surroundings of the community.
