Relatives of the victims of the La Cantuta massacre at a march in downtown Lima
Relatives of the victims of the La Cantuta massacre, along with representatives of various social and political organizations, take part in a march held in downtown Lima in February 1994 to demand that the truth about the case not be concealed. On July 18, 1992, nine students and one professor from the Universidad Nacional de Educación Enrique Guzmán y Valle, La Cantuta, were detained during a military operation carried out on that university campus. A year later, on July 10, 1993, their remains were found in clandestine graves in Cieneguilla, Lima. Subsequent investigations determined that the extrajudicial executions were carried out by the Grupo Colina under orders from the Servicio de Inteligencia Nacional (SIN).
