Single-teacher school in the locality of San Francisco
Single-teacher school in the locality of San Francisco in the province of La Mar. Between 1980 and 2000, thousands of children were exposed to witnessing the murder of their parents. The loss of parents was experienced as a threat of destruction or the destruction itself of the family. Orphanhood forced the children, usually the eldest, to take on the responsibility of caring for and supporting their younger siblings, and sometimes even their mother. In cases of total orphanhood, the loss of parents led many minors to be cared for in homes distributed across different localities where they grew up under the care and protection of Church members.
