Ruins of the Lima Prefecture building after a subversive attack

Remains of the Lima Prefecture building after the subversive attack of December 28, 1993. That day, alleged Sendero Luminoso members detonated car bombs at the Lima Prefecture and at the police station on Avenida Alfonso Ugarte, formerly the Sixth Comisaría. In the first case, the incident affected several police offices, including the Dirección Nacional contra el Terrorismo, DINCOTE; in the second, it caused no major damage. The Senderistas had previously harassed the sentinels of both locations with rifle fire.
