Body of Manuel Tumba Ortega, Colonel of the National Police who worked in the counter-terrorism directorate, DIRCOTE. Tumba Ortega was assassinated by a Sendero Luminoso annihilation squad on November 5, 1992. The Comisión de la Verdad y Reconciliación has recorded 574 victims from the police forces during the 20 years of the internal armed conflict (1980–2000).
