Bereaved relatives during the funeral of the four police officers who died in Aucayacu, Huánuco, on July 6, 1984, during a Sendero attack. That year Sendero Luminoso seized the city on two occasions and murdered residents and authorities. The State was forced to declare the Alto Huallaga zone in a "state of emergency."
