A wounded person is transported to Hospital Belén in the city of Trujillo. On March 8, 1992, a clash occurred between members of Sendero Luminoso and the National Police in Angasmarca, province of Santiago de Chuco. As a result of the confrontation, 5 police officers and two presumed subversives died. Over the 20 years of violence, 1,436 police victims — between dead and wounded — have been recorded.
