A woman detained in Huancayo in 1989 was a victim of rape during her detention. She did not denounce the facts out of fear and dignity.
A woman was arrested at her home in the district of Huancayo in 1989. During her detention, she was the victim of rape by State agents. The case illustrates the pattern of systematic sexual violence against women detained during the internal armed conflict. The victim did not denounce the facts for fear of reprisals from both MRTA members and the Peruvian Army, and also for personal dignity. This case is part of the testimonies documented by the CVR on sexual violence in contexts of arbitrary detention.
