Destruction of Laive Production Unit

In 1989, the PCP-SL completely destroyed the Laive Production Unit in Junín, bombing its facilities and milk processing machinery. The neighboring communities, spurred on by the Shining Path, looted and divided up the productive unit's goods and animals.

At the beginning of 1989, the PCP-SL attacked the Laive Production Unit, destroying the milk processing machinery. The neighboring communities of Palmayoc, Palaco, Llamapsillón and Chongos Altos, spurred on by the Shining Path, ended up looting and distributing goods from these production units. All the facilities of the LAIVE Sub-Unit were destroyed and bombed, and when someone wanted to save something, they were threatened. After the attack, the subversives ordered that the animals be distributed among the inhabitants of the communities of Chicche, Santa Rosa, Vista Alegre, Quishuar, Magdalena, Huayucachi, Huancán, Chupaca, Santo Domingo de Cachi, San Juan de Jarpa, San José de Quero, Chaquicocha and Shicuy, among others. This attack was preceded by the assassination of the administrator of Laive's production unit, Luis Capcha, on November 17, 1987, who was hanged in his own office.
