On August 10, 1988, a car bomb exploded in the offices of Centromin Peru. This attack occurred in a context of intense subversive activity by the PCP-SL during August 1988, the month in which the second session of the First Congress of the PCP-SL was also held. The attack was part of a series of violent actions that included the destruction of the tomb of Edith Lagos and other attacks in various parts of the country.
