71 people arrested for terrorism
In April 1987, the Minister of the Interior announced the arrest of 71 people for terrorism: 46 linked to the PCP-SL and 25 to the MRTA.
The Minister of the Interior, Abel Salinas Eyzaguirre, announced the arrest of 71 people implicated in various acts of terrorism in April 1987. Of those arrested, 46 were linked to the PCP-SL (Communist Party of Peru - Shining Path) and 25 to the MRTA (Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement). This police operation represented a significant action by the government of Alan García Pérez against subversive groups operating in the country.
