This attack was part of a series of terrorist attacks that took place during those days. On February 19 there had been a fire at the Las Palmas Air Base, and on February 21 there were at least eight explosions in various parts of Lima. Two days after the attack in Lima, on February 22, another car bomb exploded in Trujillo two hundred meters from the Plaza de Armas, moments before the arrival of the President of the Republic.
