Victims of rape became pregnant

According to testimony 200920 , the victims in both testimonies became pregnant as a result of rapes that occurred in 1987. The document mentions multiple cases in the district of Santillana, Province of Huanta, Department of Ayacucho during that year. In one of the cases detailed, a woman started a business selling beer and soda in San José de Secce when soldiers arrived to consume and subsequently raped her. The perpetrator of the rape acknowledged his responsibility but pointed out that the woman 'could not get pregnant from a single sexual act'. The lieutenant promised that 'any of the chiefs were going to pick up the child', but to date the girl who was the product of the rape has not been recognized.
