Formation of the Partido Socialista Revolucionario
In 1976, a faction of the youth from the Christian Democracy in Peru shifted towards more radical ideological territories, aligning initially with the military reformism of Velasco. This group eventually distanced itself to form the Partido Socialista Revolucionario (PSR). In 1978, during the convening of the Constituent Assembly, the PSR advocated for a legal approach, leading to a split with its more radical wing, which went on to establish the Marxist Leninist PSR.
Un sector de la juventud de la Democracia Cristiana migró hacia posiciones ideológicas más radicales, alineándose inicialmente con el reformismo militar velasquista. Posteriormente, en 1976, este sector fundó el Partido Socialista Revolucionario. En 1978, durante la convocatoria de la Asamblea Constituyente, el partido optó por la vía legal, lo que provocó la ruptura de su ala más radical y pro lucha armada, que fundó el PSR Marxista Leninista.
