Operativo Cerrojo
The Operativo Cerrojo marked the beginning of large-scale interdiction efforts against drug trafficking in the Alto Huallaga region of Peru. Initiated in 1976, it was followed by a series of operations including Verde Mar I and II, Bronco, Condor, and Snowcap. These operations were characterized by complex interactions between various police forces and were often criticized for their abusive practices and corruption.
El Operativo Cerrojo (1976) fue la primera interdición de gran envergadura en la región del Alto Huallaga, seguido posteriormente por otras operaciones como Verde Mar I (1979), Verde Mar II (1980), Bronco, Cóndor y Snowcap. Esta operación marcó el inicio de una serie de intervenciones policiales contra el narcotráfico que involucraron a diversas unidades como la PIP, Guardia Civil, Sinchis y UMOPAR. La complejidad de estas operaciones requería entender las diferentes estructuras, divisiones internas y funciones particulares de cada cuerpo policial involucrado en la zona cocalera.
