Attacks on bank branches and PAP premises

Eleven bank branches and three PAP offices were attacked simultaneously in Lima on June 27, 1986. The attacks occurred in the midst of a serious political crisis following the massacre in the capital's prisons.

On June 27, 1986, there were simultaneous attacks against eleven bank branches and three premises of the Peruvian Aprista Party (PAP) in Lima. These attacks occurred in a context of high political tension, a few days after the serious events in the prisons of Lima and Callao (June 18-19), where numerous prisoners accused of terrorism were killed. The same day of the attacks, President Alan Garcia Perez demanded sanctions for those responsible for the massacre in the prisons, declaring: "Either all those responsible leave or I leave". The attacks were part of a wave of violence that included other attacks in June, such as the murder of twenty peasants in La Convención, Cuzco, and an attack on a train to Machu Picchu that left eight dead.
