Attacks in Totora and Vilcabamba
On June 22, 1986, the PCP-Sendero Luminoso carried out attacks in the towns of Totora and Vilcabamba in the province of La Convención, as part of a broader offensive against peasants and ronderos in the region during the first half of that year.
During the first half of 1986, in the province of La Convención there were multiple attacks and assassinations perpetrated by the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. On June 22, 1986, specific attacks were registered in Totora and Vilcabamba. These attacks were part of a series of violent actions that included the murder of peasants in Usnuyoc on April 28, attacks on villages such as Totora and Usmayo on May 10, and the murder of the governor of Huallan and his son on July 7. In addition, on May 16, 1986, 50 ronderos were killed in the Quimbiri area, also in La Convención.
