Car bomb detonated against the residence of the US ambassador in Lima. The MRTA assumed responsibility by linking it to the US attack against Libya.

On April 21, 1986, a car loaded with explosives detonated against the residence of the U.S. ambassador in Lima. The Tupac Amaru Revolutionary Movement (MRTA) claimed responsibility for the attack. The subversive group linked this act to the recent U.S. attack on Libya, establishing an international political connection with its terrorist action.
