Murder of Sol Naciente community members

In July 1985, members of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso raided the Sol Naciente farm, located in the district of Ayna, province of La Mar. During this incursion, the Shining Path guerrillas assassinated local villagers. The attack resulted in the death of 5 people. This event occurred in the context of the Shining Path offensive in the Apurimac River Valley, in a period when the Shining Path was in retreat in the face of the advance of the Armed Forces and the DECAS (Counter-Subversive Civil Defense).
