Terrorist attack against Domingo García Rada
Shining Path attack against the president of the JNE left one dead and seriously wounded.
On April 24, 1985, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the President of the National Jury of Elections, Domingo Garcia Rada, was the victim of a terrorist attack perpetrated by members of the Shining Path. The vehicle in which he was traveling with his driver Segundo Narro Silva and his custodian Major PIP Domingo Guzman Aquino Jesus was intercepted by two vehicles. The occupants fired with machine pistols. Garcia Rada was seriously wounded with two gunshot wounds to the head and one to the left arm. Driver Segundo Navarro Silva died on April 30. The attack was part of actions to sabotage the 1985 general elections.
