Alan Garcia's statement on generalities

Alan Garcia criticized the use of generalities in political discourse, responding to statements made by the Minister of the Interior on supreme values and communist terrorism. Garcia affirmed that "These generalities have always done us a lot of harm".

Alan Garcia, then presidential candidate, made statements criticizing the use of generalities in political discourse. This was in response to statements made by the Minister of the Interior, General EP Óscar Brush Noel, who on December 1 had stated that all Peruvians should defend the supreme values of God, homeland and family against communist terrorism, arguing that communism is atheistic and destroys these values. Garcia pointed out in El Diario that "These generalities have always done us a lot of harm", criticizing this type of broad and unspecific rhetoric.
