Brush statement on communism

Interior Minister Óscar Brush Noel declared that communism is atheistic and seeks to destroy God, the homeland and the family, as part of his speech against terrorism. His statements were later criticized as harmful generalizations.

The Minister of the Interior, General EP Óscar Brush Noel, made public statements on communism in the context of the fight against terrorism. On December 1 he had stated that all Peruvians should defend the supreme values of God, country and family against communist terrorism. The following day, he stated in El Diario that "communism is atheist and that is why it tries to destroy God, it does not know what is homeland, what is society or what is family". These statements generated controversy and were criticized as harmful generalizations.
