Murder of 19 community members in San Pedro

In September 1984, law enforcement forces murdered 19 community members in San Pedro, a town in the Santa Rosa district. This event occurred in the context of the intensification of violence in the Apurimac River Valley, during the period in which the Armed Forces and the DECAS (Counter-Subversive Civil Defense) were seeking control of the valley from the Shining Path.
