Foundation of the Movimiento Revolucionario Túpac Amaru (MRTA)
The Movimiento Revolucionario Túpac Amaru (MRTA) was founded on March 1, 1982, in Peru, emerging from the unification of the MIR El Militante and the Partido Socialista Revolucionario Marxista Leninista. The MRTA sought to establish a guerrilla army modeled after Latin American revolutionary movements, engaging in armed conflict during Peru's internal conflict from 1980 to 2000. Despite attempts to negotiate with the Peruvian government, the MRTA remained active in military operations, contributing to human rights violations during this period.
En 1982, el PSR ML y el MIR El Militante fundaron el Movimiento Revolucionario Túpac Amaru (MRTA). Esta fundación se enmarcaba dentro del contexto más amplio de la izquierda radical peruana, que estaba fuertemente influenciada por el maoísmo y la Revolución Cultural China. Los militantes de la nueva izquierda, principalmente jóvenes de clases medias urbanas con formación escolar o universitaria, buscaban emular el discurso vanguardista y las maneras de incorporarse en las luchas sociales, diferenciándose de otras agrupaciones maoístas más dogmáticas.
