Attack against Acción Popular's headquarters in Lima
Attack of the PCP-SL against Acción Popular premises left 2 dead and 28 wounded.
On July 11, 1983, at approximately 7:28 p.m., a detachment of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso attacked with shrapnel and explosives the main office of the Acción Popular political party located on Paseo Colón. The attack was carried out by a group of subversives who threw three dynamite charges inside the premises where some two hundred people were gathered for a district plenary assembly. The attack left two people dead (Teresa Zegarra Pinedo de Huamán and Mario Arauco Bastidas) and 28 wounded. The attackers also fired machine gun fire and attempted to set fire to the premises with gasoline.
