During a judicial proceeding carried out between May 9 and 14, 1983, Judge ad hoc Juan Flores Rojas visited the communities of Uchuraccay, Huaychao and Iquicha, collecting statements from various authorities and peasants. On the last day of this judicial diligence, May 14, an inspection ordered by the judge took place in the hills of Uchuraccay. During this inspection, documents and personal belongings of the journalists murdered on January 26, 1983 were found. Among these objects, Willy Retto's camera was discovered, which contained a roll of photos taken by him moments before the massacre.
