On February 11, 1983, a community assembly was held in Uchuraccay with the presence of the members of the Investigating Commission of the Uchuraccay Events, presided over by Mario Vargas Llosa. This commission had been appointed by the government on February 2 to investigate the massacre of eight journalists on January 26. On the same day of the assembly, the second judicial proceeding took place, which consisted of the exhumation of the body of Juan Argumedo García, the guide who accompanied the journalists.
