Community assembly held by the Investigation Commission chaired by Mario Vargas Llosa in Uchuraccay to investigate the murder of eight journalists. The villagers gave their testimonies about the events of January 26, 1983.
The Investigation Commission of the Uchuraccay Events, presided over by writer Mario Vargas Llosa and appointed by President Fernando Belaunde Terry on February 2, 1983, held a community assembly in Uchuraccay. This commission was created to investigate the murder of eight journalists on January 26, 1983. During the assembly, the villagers gave statements about the events. The transcript of this communal assembly was later provided by the American journalist Phillip Bennet.
