Appointment of the Investigation Commission of the Uchuraccay Case

On February 3, 1983, an Investigative Commission was appointed to investigate the massacre of eight journalists that occurred in Uchuraccay, Ayacucho, on January 26 of that year. The commission presented its report in March 1983.

On February 3, 1983, an Investigative Commission for the Uchuraccay case was appointed. This commission was established in response to the January 26, 1983 massacre of eight journalists in the peasant community of Uchuraccay, province of Huanta, Ayacucho. The appointment of the commission took place in a context of growing criticism of the government for the systematic violation of human rights and the Uchuraccay massacre. The Report of the Special Commission investigating the events of Uchuraccay was subsequently presented in March 1983.
