Torture and Disappearances in Tingo María
On August 15, 1991, military personnel forcibly entered the home of Jaime Gustavo Rodriguez Credo in Tingo Maria, Peru, and took him to the military base 'Los Laureles.' He was subjected to severe torture, including beatings, electric shocks, and attempted dental extraction. After seven days of detention, he witnessed the execution of other detainees and was eventually released after his mother paid a bribe.
Entre agosto y setiembre de 1991, efectivos militares de la base Los Laureles en Tingo María perpetraron torturas sistemáticas contra civiles detenidos arbitrariamente. Las víctimas fueron sometidas a golpizas, descargas eléctricas, mutilaciones y otras torturas, como en el caso de Jaime Gustavo Rodríguez Credo, quien fue retenido 7 días durante los cuales presenció torturas a otros detenidos. Luego de pagar sobornos, fue liberado tras presenciar la ejecución de otros detenidos cuyas vísceras fueron extraídas y arrojadas al río. Otros casos incluyen a Sara Quiñónez, encontrada mutilada en el Río Negro, y Eladio Avendaño Medrano, quien fue torturado y subido a un helicóptero.
