Assassination of Community Leaders by PCP-SL

On September 14, 1991, in the settlement of Juan Pablo II, community leaders Fortunato Collazos Crispín and Alfredo Aguirre Berrocal were assassinated by the Shining Path (PCP-SL). This event occurred amid heightened tensions and accusations of terrorism against local leaders, as the PCP-SL had increased its presence in the area. The assassinations were part of a broader pattern of violence and intimidation by the PCP-SL against those perceived as opposing their influence.
