Landing of Major Barboza's helicopter in Uchuraccay

On January 29, 1983, FAP Major Jorge Ernesto Barboza Salaverry landed by helicopter in Uchuraccay around 6:00 p.m. to verify the existence of the graves of the murdered journalists, returning quickly to Ayacucho with an Iquichano detainee.

On January 29, 1983, around six o'clock in the afternoon, a helicopter commanded by FAP Major Jorge Ernesto Barboza Salaverry landed in Uchuraccay to verify the existence of the graves of the murdered journalists. Major Barboza had first arrived in Huaychao, where he met with the second patrol commanded by Captain Civil Guard Novato Soto Barreda. After verifying the existence of the graves at Uchuraccay, he quickly returned to Huaychao and then to Ayacucho. During the return flight, he took with him the detained Iquichano Dionisio Huachaca Sulca. Around 7 p.m. that night, it was confirmed in Ayacucho that all the journalists had been killed by the Uchuraccay peasants.
