Arrival of first police patrol in Uchuraccay
The first Civil Guard patrol arrived in Uchuraccay on January 29, 1983 to investigate the disappearance of the journalists. The communal authorities informed them about the deaths and showed them four graves, handing them the belongings of the dead.
On January 29, 1983, the first Civil Guard patrol arrived in Uchuraccay to investigate the disappearance of the journalists. The members of this patrol traveled by jeep from Tambo to Chalhuamayo, and from there they set out on foot to Uchuraccay. The communal authorities informed the patrol about the deaths and arrests of the alleged terrorists, lodging them in the communal building. At dawn of the following day, very early, around 6:00 a.m., the authorities showed them the four graves and gave them the belongings of the dead: a red flag, a telephoto lens, twelve rolls of film and some clothes. Towards one o'clock in the afternoon of the 29th, when arriving to Tambo, the chief of this patrol, officer Ismael Bravo Reid, informed the Political Military Command of Ayacucho about what was found in Uchuraccay.
