Arrival of second police patrol in Huaychao

A second police patrol commanded by Captain Novato Soto Barreda arrived in Huaychao on January 28 at noon, spending the night in the community before heading to Uchuraccay the next day to investigate the death of the journalists.

The second patrol under the command of Civil Guard Captain Novato Soto Barreda, head of the Counter-Subversive Command of Huanta, arrived in Huaychao around noon on January 28, 1983. The patrol spent the night in the community that night. The next day, accompanied by Huaychao community members, they went to Uchuraccay where they were informed that the first patrol had already left with the belongings of the eight dead. They returned to Huaychao with the Iquichan detainee Dionisio Huachaca Sulca and met a FAP helicopter that later transferred the detainee to Ayacucho.
