Arrival of helicopter with journalists to Huaychao

On January 27, 1983, a helicopter arrived in Huaychao with journalists Gustavo Gorriti and Oscar Medrano from Caretas magazine, one day after the Uchuraccay massacre. This event occurred while the conflict between the communities and the Shining Path PCP continued.

On January 27, 1983, one day after the massacre of journalists in Uchuraccay, a helicopter arrived in Huaychao carrying journalists Gustavo Gorriti and Oscar Medrano from Caretas magazine. This event occurred in the context of the war waged by the communities against the Shining Path PCP. That same day, fourteen peasants were captured in Uchuraccay and taken to court, among them Julio Huayta, lieutenant governor of Iquicha. The arrival of these journalists was part of the efforts to document the events taking place in the area.
