Capture of the guide Juan Argumedo

Juan Argumedo, the journalists' guide, was captured on January 23, 1983 in Yuracyacu, 5 kilometers from Uchuraccay, and taken to the community for interrogation. Three days later he was killed along with the eight journalists.

On January 23, 1983, the guide Juan Argumedo was captured 5 kilometers from Uchuraccay, at the point called Yuracyacu. He was taken to the community of Uchuraccay for interrogation. Three days later, on January 26, Juan Argumedo García was murdered together with eight journalists and the community member Severino Huáscar Morales Ccente by the community members of Uchuraccay, who considered them members or collaborators of the PCP-Sendero Luminoso. His body was exhumed on February 11, 1983, the same day Mario Vargas Llosa was meeting with the Uchuraccay peasants.
