FECVRA ventures into marketing

In July 1982, the FECVRA decided to enter directly into the commercialization of products from the valley to break the monopoly of large merchants. This action coincided with the first appearance of the PCP-SL in the area and was later used by merchants to persecute the federation's leaders.

In mid-July 1982, the Peasant Federation of the Apurimac River Valley (FECVRA) decided to enter directly into the commercialization of the valley's products, seeking to break the monopoly of the large traders. This initiative represented an effort by the peasant organization to improve the economic conditions of its members through direct control of marketing. Subsequently, on October 29, 1982, a group of subversives assaulted and looted the warehouse of one of the main kube hoarders in Santa Rosa, which gave the large merchants the opportunity to blame the FECVRA for the attack and to persecute and imprison its leaders. In the midst of this situation, a small group of young PCP-SL militants appeared for the first time in the area, seeking to establish local links.
