Identification of Shining Path Central Committee Members
In 1991, the Special Intelligence Group (GEIN) successfully identified the members of the Central Committee of the Shining Path (PCP-SL) after months of intensive intelligence work. Despite initial challenges and mockery from other police units, the GEIN's efforts in gathering and analyzing information on subversive groups proved crucial in understanding the organizational structure of the Shining Path.
El GEIN trabajaba con limitaciones logísticas pero contaba con especialistas en lucha contrasubversiva que recopilaban manuscritos, pruebas y documentos de grupos subversivos. Continuando el trabajo iniciado por psicólogos y sociólogos de la DIRCOTE, confeccionaban guías de antecedentes y lazos familiares de capturados para establecer perfiles de cabecillas. Utilizando información incautada sobre Socorro Popular, reconstruyeron las relaciones entre miembros del PCP-SL dentro de su sistema de compartimentaje, logrando después de arduo trabajo conocer quiénes eran los miembros del Comité Central en 1991.
