Arrest of alleged perpetrators of attacks in Cerro de Pasco
In 1982, the police identified and arrested alleged perpetrators of dynamite attacks in Cerro de Pasco, who were tried for acts against public tranquility. The police response subsequently proved insufficient in the face of increased violence.
In Cerro de Pasco, the police investigation led to the identification of some of those allegedly responsible for the dynamite attacks in the city since 1982. These individuals were arrested and brought before the competent judicial authorities, who tried them for acts against public tranquility. However, some time later, the police response was insufficient to stop the dizzying increase in the number of attacks and victims, as well as the territorial expansion of the PCP-SL forces. This police incapacity was one of the reasons for the declaration, in December 1984, of a state of emergency in the province of Daniel Alcides Carrion.
