PCP-SL initiates people's war against the Peruvian State on the day of democratic elections
The Communist Party of Peru-Sendero Luminoso began the execution of its plan called 'Initiation of the Armed Struggle' (ILA) against the Peruvian State on the day of the general elections, the first after 14 years. In doing so, it expressed its rejection of the democratic political system that was about to be reinstated in Peru. During the last years of the military government they carefully prepared this war as a long-term political and military plan.
