Police Operations Against PCP-SL in Peru
On June 22, 1991, the Peruvian police achieved a significant breakthrough against the Shining Path (PCP-SL) by arresting key members, including Tito Valle Travezaño and Yovanka Pardavé, after a six-month surveillance operation. This operation was part of a series of coordinated efforts to dismantle the leadership and infrastructure of the PCP-SL, which included raids on various safe houses and the capture of several high-ranking members. These actions significantly weakened the organizational structure of the Shining Path.
Entre junio de 1990 y noviembre de 1991, la policía realizó una serie de operaciones coordinadas contra el PCP-SL que permitieron desarticular sus principales departamentos. El primer gran golpe ocurrió el 1 de junio de 1990 con el allanamiento de una casa en Monterrico Norte donde detuvieron a 31 miembros incluyendo a Sybila Arredondo, y descubrieron que el lugar había servido como sede del Congreso del PCP-SL entre 1987 y 1988. Posteriores operaciones identificaron y capturaron a dirigentes clave como Luis Arana Franco, Angélica Salas, Elena Iparraguirre y Yovanka Pardavé. El 22 de junio de 1991 capturaron a Tito Valle Travezaño y el 23 de junio a Víctor Zavala Cataño, desarticulando la dirección de Socorro Popular, mientras que el 8 de mayo de 1991 desarticularon el Grupo Intelectual Popular.
