Sendero Luminoso Attacks in Pilchaca
In 1984, members of the Sendero Luminoso, also known as the Shining Path, arrived in the district of Pilchaca. They demanded that all local authorities resign from their positions. During this visit, they burned municipal documents in the main square. The following year, in 1985, they returned and left threatening letters demanding the resignation of local officials.
En 1984, aproximadamente al mediodía, senderistas llegaron por primera vez al distrito de Pilchaca. Al no encontrar a las autoridades, ordenaron que toda autoridad renunciara a su cargo y quemaron los documentos de la Municipalidad en la Plaza Principal. En 1985, regresaron por segunda vez y dejaron cartas exigiendo la renuncia de las autoridades, amenazando con ejecutarlos si no cumplían, afirmando que ya los conocían.
